In the tapestry of life, our health threads' through every aspect of our existence, influencing the vibrancy and quality of our days. It extends far beyond the mere absence of ailments and disease; it is the pursuit of complete physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Within the family unit, where the health of each individual interlaces with the others, this pursuit takes on an even greater significance. This blog delves into the holistic approach to wellness—a path that leads families to a state of elevated health by nourishing the body, mind, and spirit.
The Power of Collective Well-being
The journey towards family health is a collective endeavour. While each individual is responsible for their own holistic health, the family as a unit plays a critical role in maintaining and elevating the well-being of all its members. It's about creating an environment where everyone feels supported and held accountable for their health choices. This collective approach not only strengthens the bond within the family but also ensures that every member thrives.
Children play their important roles too! Reflecting back to us as parents the areas in which we need to nourish - more on that as you read on, but also in that when parents are inspired to care for their own health, children will be inspired to do the same. After all our children are literally learning to be human simply through observing us as parents in our day to day existence. If we are stressed, they will be stressed and unsettled. If we crave sugar and junk food, they will also grow into these same cravings. And so on.
Nourishment on All Levels
To ascend to the peak of health, we must cater to our needs on multiple levels. This triad of nourishment—spiritual, mental, and physical—is a dynamic interplay where imbalance in one can unsettle the others. Let's delve deeper into these essential facets of nourishment:
Spiritual Nourishment
Spiritual nourishment involves surrendering and letting go of ego by connecting with something greater than ourselves. It can come from faith, prayer, meditation, nature, or reading of spiritually oriented texts that fosters a sense of peace and purpose. Spiritual nourishment is key to not only enrich the present moment that we are living in but also to clear any negative energies that can arise from the lack of spiritual growth. When families engage in spiritual activities together, they cultivate a deeper sense of unity and understanding.
Signs of restlessness, stress, anxiety or lack of energy for doing daily tasks can be directly linked to undernourishment of the spiritual bodies within the individual. When parents are spiritually undernourished it is possible to pass on these deficiencies to their children. With lack of understanding and knowledge about cultivating spiritual energies it can become extremely difficult for families to rise up together as a unit in the face of adversities.
The good thing is that, it’s never too late to start activating and cultivating the spiritual force that is lying dormant within each individual.
Mental Nourishment
Mental nourishment is about looking within, stimulating and caring for the mind. It is about making way for positive thinking by learning new things, engaging in meaningful conversations, and practicing mindfulness.
Mental health is a combination of many subtleties that are to be fine tuned and cultivated through self discipline. Most of the mental nourishment is to be done alone in silence. We are what we think, our energies flow in the direction of our thoughts. Having a fearless approach to directly take on and conquer any negatives of the mind is crucial for sustaining and nourishing the mind.
Deprivation of mental and spiritual health is the major reason for many if not all of the chronic illnesses that we face as humans.
People often ask me (as I have often asked myself in the past) well how then can I ‘get rid’ of negative thoughts or damaging ideologies of myself or life or others?
The answer lies not in how to ‘remove’ or ‘get rid of’ anything. It’s more about feeding yourself this mental nourishment. Washing out any chance of negativity by incorporating more of the opposite.
This might look like reading uplifting words or writing uplifting words of affirmation. Journaling can be a wonderfully healing practice that allows one to vomit in words everything that is clogging the mind with negativity so that it no longer rests there. You could go one step further and burn the pages upon completion or create a vision board of everything in life you wish to call in.
Affirmations to repeat:
Everything that I want in this life wants me too!
I am love and I am loved.
Life is always working in my favour and I am grateful for the lessons that lead me here.
I am responsible for creating my own bliss and I love being the creator.
Get creative - there’s so many ways we can affirm what we want and need in the lives of ourselves, our children, our family.
Intentions
Creating an intentional life is another aspect of mental nourishment. When we intend for something to happen - more often than not, it will absolutely happen. Setting intentions is a powerful way to reprogram the mind and allow for the subtle energies of the cosmos work in our favor.
Consider what you want and need in your life now. Write it down on a piece of paper. Then underneath write down how you will FEEL when you get it or experience it. Ensure you are not using negative words or emotions in your intentions, but instead try to write how you are positively affected. For example:
Instead of saying “I want to remove all the stress from my life and the life of my family. This will make me feel less stressed.”
You can say “To feel ease and peace as I move through my daily life. This will allow me to experience full-joy and bliss as I create a harmonious home for my family.”
Physical Nourishment
Physical nourishment is perhaps the most well-known aspect of health. On a simplistic level it includes eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting adequate rest. However, to deeply nourish the physical body it is important to breathe properly.
Breath is the foundation of life, proper breathing can not only heal the body from pains, aches and other physical illnesses but also can add longevity to life. Proper breathing exercises can help to purify the blood, nourish the organs and also improve proper functioning of other bodily systems.
Cultivating the vital life force energy is a natural panacea to prevent diseases and also to live life with ease and peace.

Guardians of the Family's Spiritual Essence: The Pivotal Role of Parents in Fostering Holistic Health
Parents hold a unique responsibility when it comes to family health. It is their obligation to establish a foundation of wellness for themselves and to model these behaviours for their children. By prioritising their own health, parents can pass on healthy habits to the next generation, setting the stage for a legacy of wellness. In today’s world of nuclear families it is more important than ever before to create a home that is full of life, to actively create the right ambience in the house so that every individual in the family can thrive and also be held accountable for their choices and decisions.
This is also true when we consider that whatever we as parents leave ‘unhealed’ whether it be mental/emotional, physical or even spiritual - we then undoubtedly risk passing these deficiencies onto our children and eternally through our lineage.
Unless we decide to be the ones to take responsibility and break these patterns.
For me, the biggest lesson I have received since becoming a mother is that my children are quite literally a reflection of me. My thoughts, my mood, my actions, my words. And that can be a magical beautiful thing when we are in the right frame of mind or we have done or are doing the work of healing ourselves.
However when this realization landed for me about 5 years ago I had been ignorant to this idea. I had been wondering why/how my baby daughter was (seemingly) all of a sudden reflecting back to me all of the darkness that was kept bottled up somewhere within my being. Depression, anxieties, poor self-worth. Not to mention the physical aspects of realizing just how poor my energy levels had been, feminine hormonal imbalances, recurring issues related to low immunity and so on.
She had this incredible ability to highlight these things simply just by being my daughter and moving through the world in her cosmic, angelic way! I’m sure If you're reading this blog and are parenting young (or grown up) children you may have experienced or are experiencing something similar.
And what a blessing it is really when we can acknowledge this truth and make the changes to move forward with our own physical, mental, emotional spiritual healing - no matter how daunting it may seem.
Health as an Investment
Living a healthy life is the greatest investment one can make. It's not a one-time action but a daily practice of nurturing every aspect of life. When we invest in our health, we are rewarded with a life rich in experiences and abundance. The ripples of our healing extends far beyond the individual, benefiting the entire family and community.
A Day-to-Day Process
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an ongoing process. It requires consistent effort to ensure that each aspect of life is in balance. When one area suffers, it can spill over into other areas, affecting our overall well-being. Families must work together to address these deficiencies and support each other through the ups and downs of life.
I write this as we as a family have come through what has felt like a portal of elevation. A time of upheaval - physically as we prepare to sell our home and move onwards to our dream land in the mountains of Southern India. Mentally and emotionally as we have overcome what has felt like brainwashed barriers of the mind that have unknowingly limited our elevation to more health and vitality. Spiritually as we have had to trust in The Most High’s guidance through a time of uncertainty and many realisations that have landed as we navigate the road to our ultimate truth.
In conclusion, elevating the health of the family is a journey that involves the whole family unit. By taking a holistic approach to wellness that nourishes the spiritual, mental, and physical aspects of life, families can create a strong foundation for health that will last for generations - ensuring that the wellbeing of your lineage will not only be restored, but continue to be elevated throughout the time and space of creation.
Remember, the willingness to take initiative is the first step. You can BE the pattern breaker. You ARE able to uplift yourself first and then inspire your family to do the same. And from there, the ever-evolving journey to collective well-being manifests eternally.
